Get Involved Our active supporters are our
most important resource. We are always seeking new volunteers within
the Branch area. You might like to join one of our Auxiliary
Fundraising teams in Sherborne, Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Axminster,
Weymouth, Portland or Dorchester. Our Auxiliaries run a number of
events throughout the year ranging from Fetes and Fairs to Coffee
Mornings, Sponsored Events, Street Collections and Tombolas. Our
Branch Fundraising committee meets at Taylor's Rehoming Centre once
a month and we welcome new members. You might like to get involved
in the running of the Branch. Our Branch Committee is responsible
for the running of the Branch and we are always seeking new members with
various administrative, professional and practical skills. If you
are keen to get involved we would love to hear from you. There is
something that everyone can do – we can make the most of what you have
to offer. Even now that our new Animal Centre
is fully operational we still require fosterers to look after animals
which come in to the care of the Branch whilst they wait to find new
homes. We are especially keen to find fosterers who can look after
dogs but would like to hear from you if you are able to foster any other
animal too – even exotic pets! All of our potential fosterers will
be visited by an RSPCA Inspector and asked to sign a fostering
agreement. Fostering is a very rewarding experience, giving love and
stability to an animal who is ‘between homes’, and ideally suiting
people who are not in a position to make a long term commitment to another
pet. Support Our
Fundraising Events Check out our Events page for details
of our Fundraising activities in your area. Support Our Charity Shops If you are in the Bridport or
Dorchester areas make sure you visit our Branch
Shops,
and please remember us when you have goods to donate. Maybe you have
a few hours each week you could spare to help in one of the Shops? Or maybe
you would like to be one of our Emergency
Helpers? We are
hoping to set up more Shops in the near future, with a long term goal of
Shops in Lyme Regis, Sherborne and Weymouth. Become a Friend of Taylor's Animal Rehoming Centre Find full details on our 'Friends' page Leave a Legacy In the past the RSPCA West Dorset
Branch has been deeply indebted to those local people who have been kind
enough to remember the Branch in their wills. Please remember that if you wish to
leave a legacy to the RSPCA to be spent helping animals in the West Dorset
area and at 'Taylor's Animal Rehoming Centre' your will must be
specifically worded to mention the West Dorset Branch, otherwise the
legacy will go to RSPCA HQ to be spent on the Inspectorate and other
general purposes of the National Society. Please contact RSPCA HQ direct
if this is your wish. Any member wishing to leave a legacy
to the RSPCA West Dorset Branch / 'Taylor's Animal Rehoming Centre' should
ensure that the following wording is used in their will: “I give the sum of £_________
to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals West Dorset
Branch (Registered Charity No. 248616) and I declare that the receipt of
the Honorary Treasurer or other proper officer for the time being of the
said Branch shall be sufficient discharge for the said legacy.” If you already have a will, your solicitor can add to it a section (a
codicil) based on the above words. You should always consult a
solicitor regarding the preparation of your will. Thank you. Click on the sleepy cat to Email us! |
