RSPCA West Dorset & Axminster Branch is a separate charity affiliated to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA).  We cover the towns of Dorchester, Bridport, Weymouth, Portland, Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Sherborne and Axminster (Devon) as well as all the surrounding villages and hamlets.  Our main priorities are the welfare and rehoming of local animals.  We raise ours funds within the Branch boundaries and all money raised is spent within the area.  We are responsible for "Taylors Animal Rehoming Centre" at Kingston Maurward, Dorchester.

If you wish to report an Animal Emergency or have concerns regarding the welfare of an animal please telephone 0300 1234 999.  Please also call this number if you need to have an unowned or wild animal collected by an RSPCA Animal Collection Officer.

PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL US REGARDING EMERGENCIES OR CRUELTY AS THIS IS NOT THE MOST EFFICIENT WAY OF DEALING WITH SUCH MATTERS.  CALL 0300 1234 999 AND REPORT THE MATTER TO THE RSPCA NATIONAL CALL CENTRE.  THANK YOU.

Hi we are Lydia & Leanne, and we look after the cats at the Centre.

Please consider adopting one of our cats, we take cats that other Charities won't, such as timid, older and cats with health problems, but we do rely on you to help rehome them.

If you see any cats or kittens that you are interested in then please phone the Centre for more       details or call in at the above times.

CYCLONE - DSH - Black female aged 1 year -  I was born in the roof of a house, and haven't had much socialisation. I am looking for a very understanding and patient home, preferably with another cat in the home.  She has been neutered, and vaccinated. She is very affectionate with other cats.
MONTY - DSH BLACK & WHITE Male - Aged 3 - 5 yrs.  Needs to be an only cat, and is slightly deaf.  He is a handsome chap, but does have a runny eye which will be an ongoing thing. Monty came to us after being dumped at a vets in Weymouth.
RYAN -  DSH BLACK MALE  - Aged 3 yrs old - Ryan is a sweet cat,  but is not suitable to live with small children.  He is an absolute sweetheart, once you have gained his trust, but is nervous of new people. He is neutered, vaccinated & microchipped.
WILLOW - DSH Tabby Female - aged 7 yrs old - Quiet cat, needing an understanding home and time to settle into her new environment.  Would not be suitable to live with young children, but she has lived with other cats.
BONNIE - 13 yr old Female Burmese x.  Sweet natured, and very chatty, can say 'Hello'.  Has had a routine older cat blood test (all normal), and we have started her vaccinations.  Looking for a nice retirement home, and a nice lap to sit on.
MARBLES - DSH Black & White female - aged approx 3 yrs old.  Came to the Centre as a stray, and has remained unclaimed.  We have started her vaccinations, and she has now been microchipped.  She has been shaved, and our vet have found a spay scar.
PICKLES - DSH Tortie & White Female - aged 1 yr - She came to us from a multi cat household via the Inspector.  Timid cat, but responds well once she knows you.  Has been blood tested for Felv & Fiv - reseult negative.  She has been spayed, chipped and we have started her vaccinations.
CLAUDE - DSH Ginger male - aged 2 yrs approx.  Came to the centre as a un-neutered stray.  He has now been neutered and blood tested for FiV/Felv - result negative. He is a sweet natured cat, but can be nervous, as he is not use to lots of attention, but is learning very quickly that a lap to sit on is great.
POPPY - DSH Dark Tortie & White Female - aged 7 yrs old approx - Came to the centre from the same house as Pickles.  Has now been neutered, but is quite timid, she does love a nice fuss, but needs to trust you first.  We have started her vaccinations and she has been chipped, not suitable to be homed with very young children, but teenagers could be ok.
SAM - DSH Tabby male - aged 3 yrs.  Sam is sweet, but is very shy of new people, and for this reason he is not suitable for very young children, older children 10 yr + may be ok.  We would like to find him a quiet and understanding home.  He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
OLIVE - DSH Black Female Cat aged 9 yrs - Sweet, Quiet cat looking for a home with someone at home for part of the day.  Has has a urinary problem in the past, but we have carried out tests on her and she doesn't seem to have any problems any more.  Has lived with Shelby, but they are not the best of friends, so could go on her own.

SHELBY -  DSH Black Female Cat aged 10 yrs old - Sweet Cat, who came to the Centre after her owner was evicted. She is a quiet cat, who has lived with Olive, but can be rehomed on her own, as they aren't the best of friends. She is neutered, and we have started her vaccinations

ELGIN -  DSH Black male Cat - aged 3 yrs old - Active and very energetic cat, has lived with dogs, not suitable with other cats.  He has lived in a rural home, so would be looking for that sort of home.  He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.  He is a super Character, come up and meet him!

I AM RESERVED AND HOPE TO GO TO MY FOREVER HOME SOON

ARIES - DMH - Black & white male - aged 8 - 10 yrs (approx). HERA - DSH Black Female - aged 8 - 10 yrs (approx) - She is a quiet cat, but has a lovely temperment, and may be ok with older children.  She is neutered, and has had a dental, we have started her vaccinations and microchipped her. She came in from a home where her owner died.
POSEIDEN - DSH Black & White male - aged 6/7 yrs (approx) - Bit of a fatty at the moment, but sweet natured, would prefer a home as an only cat.  He has had a dental, and is neutered and we have started his vaccinations.  He does have a white ear so will need sunblock applied in the summer months to prevent skin cancer. He came in from the home where the owner died.
NOVAK - DSH White & Ginger male - aged 18 mths  - Came to the Centre as a stray, and has remained unclaimed.  We have blood tested him for Feline Aids & Leukaemia - result negative, and we have neutered him and started his vaccinations.  He is a funny little cat, who can appear very affectionate and is, but as he has been outside for a bit, is a bit wary of all the attention.  He wouldn't be suitable in a home with very young children.
AISLING - DSH Black Female - aged 3 1/2 mths - Sweet natured kitten. Looking for a home with another cat or with some one around a lot in the day. She is vaccinated and chipped, and will be issued with a neutering voucher towards the cost of getting her neutered.
